| Description: | This position performs prescribed radiology and patient care procedures by following department policies, procedures and protocols. This position demonstrates competence to ensure optimal care/treatment of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. |
| Duties: | 1. Performs the setup and acquisition of prescribed procedures.
a) Obtains and verifies physician order.
b) Selects proper equipment settings and technical factors.
c) Recognizes anatomy and pathology.
d) Explains procedure to patient and family.
2. Performs the processing of prescribed diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Examples:
a) Correctly identifies and labels films, images, and data submitted to the physician for interpretation.
b) Optimizes the image quality of the films, images, and data submitted to the physician for interpretation.
3. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements as indicated. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
4. Ensures the efficient operation and workflow of the department by scheduling and re-evaluating workflow throughout the day. This is accomplished by having the exam rooms stocked, performing room set-up, establishing patient transport, and schedule coordination with multi-disciplinary team members.
5. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Examples:
a) Patient and exam history forms, requisitions, order verification, transmittals, film jackets, content labels.
b) Processing appropriate and timely charges for all procedures and supplies.
6. Performs Patient Care activities in the Urgent Care setting:
a) Measures Vital Signs, height, weight, accurately and in a timely manner. Performs care with consideration of age specific and cultural needs of the patient and according to policy.
b) Performs treatments as delegated by RN or provider consistent with demonstrated competencies.
c) Sets up and assists with procedures such as laceration repairs, splinting, etc.
7. Performs Laboratory Procedures as ordered by the provider following applicable policies and procedures.
a) Performs required tests as ordered by the provider.
b) Documents all necessary entries accurately and according to policy
c) Able to perform necessssary QC and documentation for all procedures.
Physical/Mental Demands:
Requires the ability to speak clearly, hear, read, write in English, manual dexterity, standing or sitting for long periods, coordination of information and activities, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, bending, reaching, standing, performing basic mathematical calculations, working under stress of deadlines, and multi-thought/multi-task processing. Work is performed in a hospital environment. Workspace includes patient care areas, office areas, and radiation-controlled areas. |
| Qualifications: | Requires certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and licensure by the Arizona Medical Radiologic Technologist Board of Examiners. Clinical experience in the medical office or Emergency setting preferred. Must have highly developed interpersonal skills.
